No two days are the same at Pioneer – we believe that variety is most definitely the spice of life and we want our students to experience something different each and every day, no matter how small. We believe this keeps young people engaged and attentive to what’s happening around them.

As mentioned within our TEC Life section, the structure of a day at Pioneer is consistent – but the activities each student will undertake isn’t.

We have a daily routine and we want our students to contribute. It will be structured and be something like this:

  • Breakfast is 8am on a weekday
  • Students walk to Pioneer for 9.30am and the first activity for the day
  • End of the day is 3pm
  • Teatime is varied and will depend on the student’s chosen hobbies or afterschool activities. This is the time that everyone sits down together to talk about the day, if they wish
  • In the evening, this is time for the students to socialise and chill out, with a film, video games or other activities

At Pioneer, we believe it’s essential to have a regular structured bedtime, as we know that some young people can find night times and sleeping difficult. Key workers and the care staff team are there to talk to the students to ensure they’re okay and settled. They will also help support them with any issues that are stopping them from having a good night’s sleep.

We want our students to:

Succeed in education

Knowledge and learning can equip young people for life, regardless of the subject. We’re focused on ensuring our students succeed.

Be happy and healthy

The most important achievement for our students is to be happy and healthy. We equip them with the tools they need to become this.

Build good relationships

Learning the skills to build healthy and strong relationships help our students to grow as individuals and become well-rounded adults.

Have a safe place to stay

Have a safe place to stay - Feeling safe and secure is crucial for many of the young people that walk through our doors. The stability & structure of TEC Life enables them to feel this.
