Before a complaint happens, we want to make sure as much as possible has been done to ensure you are happy so the complaint is sorted and therefore doesn’t need to happen in the first place. Open conversations and honesty are essential to your success through TEC Life. It also sets you up to ensure you know when you’re unhappy with something throughout life. Leaving things to linger can be dangerous and detrimental to you.
Your keyworker session is an opportunity to chat about anything, but particularly if there is something you’re not happy about. You won’t be happy every moment of every day during TEC Life, but you shouldn’t be feeling upset about things you can have influence over.
If however you do feel you want to make a complaint then the first person you should speak to would be your keyworker, but if they are not available or the complaint is about them, speak to another member of staff at the Lodges, the Home Manager, the School Manager, one of your teachers or even your social worker. It is really important you feel you have a voice and your worries are heard – you will be listened to and given the support you need.
Communication is essential to your success through TEC Life. We can only ensure your safety and happiness if we’re aware of any issues or problems – we can usually spot these ourselves, but we also need you to be open and honest to allow us to help you as much as possible.
