What are we and what do we do?
Pioneer TEC is an Ofsted approved independent education provider for children and young people with SEND & EBD needs aged 11-18.
situated on an exclusive 100-acre, purpose-built facility near Preston Docks in Lancashire, we offer a safe, secure, exciting provision.
We want our students to feel safe and nurtured in an environment that is fun and different to anything they have ever seen before. We want them to feel part of our Pioneer community, to feel inspired and harness their natural energy and enthusiasm through our outdoor activity-based educational programme. This enables them to confidently build trusting, positive relationships.
Our team come from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures. They each have different skills, qualifications, interests and experience, all of which we use to help support our students develop their skills and achieve their goals.
- We treat everyone fairly and equally
- We will work with our young people to support and ensure they are safe, well cared for and help them to reach their potential and their goals
We help them learn independent living and life skills, how to manage money, build their confidence, and support them as they work towards getting a job, gaining qualifications, or heading to college.
Ultimately, we want to keep our students safe, help them to learn, listen to them, and for our students to want to be at Pioneer, so they can:
- Enjoy themselves and acquire new skills
- Do well in their education
- Be happy and healthy
- Build good relationships
- Enjoy their leisure time and all the activities we offer
- Fulfil their potential
How do we do this?
We ensure the young people that attend have a flexible curriculum, tailored to individual needs. Academic learning sits side by side with vocational subjects and a varied activity-based educational programme designed to inspire as well as educate.
When a young person joins Pioneer, they become one of our students, one of the Pioneer community. All our students start an exciting journey that will see them develop social, employability and independent living skills alongside academic outcomes.
To gain viable employment, work experience is a necessity. This can be hard to do for a young person who hasn’t had the opportunity, or the exposure to a real work environment. We encourage our students to take up a traineeship, to gain skills and qualifications that employers want. We also offer paid work experience opportunities, teaching young people the value of their work.
Students can be reluctant to engage with work experience if they don’t have incentives other than simply building on their skills. Through our Positive Behaviour Management (PBM) system, we reward good behaviour with credits on a student’s personal account, enabling them to access the online shop to purchase goods or additional activities of their choice.
